Multichannel Pipettors
Multichannel pipettors are designed to increase efficiency and consistency when transferring liquids into multiple wells simultaneously. These pipettors feature multiple liquid dispensing channels, typically ranging from 8 to 12, which makes filling microplates and other multi-well formats exceptionally quicker. They are widely used in laboratories that conduct high-throughput experiments, including molecular biology, drug discovery, and clinical diagnostics, where repetitive pipetting is required. Multi-channel pipettors are available in both adjustable and fixed-volume models, catering to different experimental needs. Electronic versions offer additional precision and user-friendly programming, further minimizing variability and strain from repetitive manual pipetting.
These pipettors operate similarly to single-channel pipettors, utilizing air displacement technology to aspirate and dispense liquids with accuracy. Their primary advantage is speed, as they significantly reduce the time and effort required for pipetting tasks compared to handling individual wells one by one. This makes them ideal for ELISA assays, PCR setup, cell culture work, and serial dilutions in 96- or 384-well plates.
