QSonica Q125 Sonicator

QSonica Q125 sonicator is a microprocessor-based, programmable ultrasonic processor. Features include pulse mode and a digital display of both wattage and joules. The unit is effective for standard cell disruption, DNA/RNA shearing, homogenization and many other applications. Q125 sonicators are ideal for small samples and for customers that do not plan to scale up to larger volumes in the future. This model offers the same programming and display features as the Q-500 unit.

How a Sonicator Works

A sonicator uses three major components; a generator, a converter, and a probe. The generator generate high electrical energy from A/C voltage and delivers it to the converter in 20 kHz pulses. The piezoelectric converter then converts this energy into mechanical vibrations. These vibrations are then amplified and transmitted down the probe, where the probe tip expands and contracts. In liquid, the rapid vibration of the tip causes cavitation which allows for the processing of many applications.
