Accuris E5001-SDB SmartDoc 2.0 Gel Imaging Enclosure with Blue Light Transilluminator
The SmartDoc 2.0 Gel Imaging System was designed with safety in mind when viewing electrophoresis gels. The blue light illuminator is a safer option than UV lights for both technicians and the gels as blue light will not damage DNA or RNA samples. The enclosure that comes with the complete system allows technicians to easily capture high quality photos with their smart phone. An extending adapter can be inserted to allow the imaging of gels up to 15 x 15 cm and can be removed for closer, more detailed photos. The SmartDoc imaging enclosure can also be used with any other existing transilluminators.
With a peak output of 460nm, the intense blue light of the illumination base is optimized to work with green fluorescent dyes to excite nucleic acid gels. An orange viewing cover is also included that fits on top of the base or can be set at an angle for easy viewing and access to the gel for DNA band cutting.
For those technicians who do a lot of band excision, the SmartBlue Viewing Glasses (E4000-VG) are a great alternative to using the orange viewing cover. By removing the orange cover, lab techs now have full access to the gels.
